Universities have become snake pits of socialism, identity politics, and other terrible ideas.
Campus groupthink has allowed these ideas to fester without much pushback.
And now one American enemy is using these universities for a serious security threat.
The communist government of China is an incredibly serious geo-political threat.
There was the belief that opening China economically would crack the brutal communist dictatorship.
While China has somewhat embraced free markets with top-down control—in a more fascistic way—they still remain an authoritarian state that quashes rights in all sorts of terrifying ways.
Not only that, China has the goal of becoming the preeminent world power, and they’re willing to exert control and undermine their geopolitical rivals in a number of ways.
And now the United States just charged a Chinese government official with using universities to acquire fraudulent visas for Chinese communist party figures.
Zhongsan Liu, who runs the New York branch of the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP), allegedly used universities to acquire student visas for Chinese government employees.
At least seven universities, including the University of Georgia, have been embroiled in the scandal.
The Chinese are actively embedding spies in the country and the university system is a perfect arena for it.
Universities are already sympathetic to the far-left agenda of the Chinese government.
This visa scam isn’t China’s only encroachment into the American university system either.
China funded the construction of many Confucius Cultural Centers at universities and junior colleges around the country.
The Confucius Centers were billed at promoting cultural exchange, but they’ve been exposed as party propaganda instruments, and they’ve even been used to spy on Chinese nationals studying abroad.
The Chinese government keeps a close eye on these students to make sure they don’t get too acculturated in America.
The Department of Defense has actually pushed to defend these Confucius Centers, and several of them have been shuttered as a result.
A lot of this ties into Donald Trump’s foreign policy with regard to China.
These Chinese have been cheating on trade deals, stealing our intellectual property, and manipulating their currency to affect the world market.
There are even concerns that the Chinese are embedding spy software into electronics manufactured in China and shipped worldwide.
The Trump administration understands the threat that China poses, which is why he’s entrenched in a trade war.
The communist party of China has remained control through surveillance, but more importantly, through money gained through trade imbalances and stolen IP.
If the money dries up, there will be considerable pressure on the communist regime, and Trump is applying that pressure.
China is becoming more and more belligerent, so it’s necessary to recognize them as the geopolitical threat they are.
Exposing this university visa scam and the Confucius Center is an important step.
But China won’t stop attempting to grow their power.
Unfortunately, they have a lot of help from radical leftists on American campuses who want to see the U.S. falter as much as China does.
