Everybody knows college campuses have become leftist indoctrination mills.
But the ideological rot goes deeper than anyone imagined.
And now one country’s communist propaganda is being purged from college campuses.
Arizona State is the latest university to shutter their school’s Confucius Institute, which has been exposed as a propaganda arm funded by China’s communist government.
The Confucius Institute, which popped up on college campuses around the country, had been billed as simple providing language and cultural study resources for students.
However, a former Chinese government official named Liu Yushan told Politico last year that these institutes “actively carry out international propaganda battles against issues such as Tibet, Xinjiang, Taiwan, human rights and Falun Gong.”
Last year, Congress passed a law barring all Confucius Institutes from receiving Department of Defense funding due to the dubious nature of the program.
Arizona State applied for a waiver in order to keep the institute open, but was denied.
Despite the funding challenges, many Confucius Institutes still remain open.
In addition to spreading propaganda, emissaries from the institutes keep an eye on Chinese students studying abroad in America to make sure they don’t get acculturated to the United States.
Doing so could bar them from working in China and could even lead to adverse effects to their family members back home.
The Confucius Institute also puts pressure on academics to censor any criticism of China’s communist regime.
In the 1970s, Richard Nixon opened the U.S. market to China in hopes of the country liberalizing.
While China has adopted some free-market principles, the top-down communist dictatorship remains in place.
China has used the influx of cash from embracing freer trade to further oppress their own citizens and spread propaganda around the globe.
China never relinquished the goals of communism laid out under Mao Zedong’s historically bloody reign.
The most frightening part is that communism and socialism are as popular as ever on college campuses.
Without a Cold War to tenuously unify the country, American socialists have become bolder in their methods, and conservatives took their eye off the ball.
They thought communism was dead with the fall of the Berlin Wall, but the evil, murderous ideology lives on.
China is now the dominant communist threat, and the same useful idiots in America carry water for them.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who has supported every socialist regime of the last 40 years, recently praised China for doing more than any other country at lifting its people out of poverty.
This is an asinine statement.
It was free markets that allowed China to industrialize.
Prior to Nixon’s gamble, China’s economy was in shambles.
And that doesn’t even make mention of the 60+ million people killed by Mao, or the brutal quashing of protesters at Tiananmen Square in 1989.
China, with the help of Confucius Institutes, is obscuring its ugly past.
And Americans like Sanders and his acolytes are actively choosing to overlook it.
Until Americans regain the understanding of the very real threat of socialism and its utopian goal of communism, our freedom is in serious jeopardy.
