CNN bet everything on opposing Donald Trump.
Network executives wagered their jobs, the network’s credibility and their employees’ futures on a business model centered on driving President Trump from office.
The results are in and CNN just saw this one number that could cause them to pull the plug.
Attorney General William Barr releasing the lightly redacted Mueller report delivered a gut punch to CNN.
For two years on-air anchors entertained wild conspiracy theories promoted by former intelligence community members like perjurer James Clapper and other Democrat affiliated guests about Donald Trump and his campaign engaging in treasonous collusion with the Russians to steal the 2016 Presidential Election from Hillary Clinton.
When the facts came to light – that Mueller found no evidence of Russian collusion and the special counsel did not bring obstruction of justice charges – CNN ended up with egg on their face.
And their viewers – such as they had for a last place cable news network – demonstrated their displeasure with being lied to by voting with the TV remote.
In the month of April – when Mueller’s conclusions became public – CNN’s primetime ratings plummeted 26 percent.
Viewers aged 25 to 54 – the demographic advertisers target because of their purchasing power – fled CNN.
The left-wing network lost 41 percent of viewers in that age group during the month of April.
This left CNN averaging fewer than 800,000 viewers in primetime.
By comparison, top rated Fox News averaged 2.4 million viewers in primetime.
Critics joke that if CNN did not have deals to be televised in airports than it is unlikely an American would actually see their programming.
CNN’s coverage in the wake of Attorney General Barr’s testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee was no more honest.
On one panel there were eight members.
Every single one hated Donald Trump and panned Attorney General Barr’s testimony.
One so-called “news anchor” even slammed Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham as a “disgrace.”
“Lindsey Graham said he hadn’t even read it all,” King ranted and raved. “The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said ‘I’ve only read most of it.’ That’s a disgrace.”
CNN’s negative coverage of Barr could have been an attempt to win back the liberal viewers that threw up their hands and declared enough when the findings of the Mueller report revealed that CNN took their audience along for a ride.
This was a lost opportunity for CNN.
Instead of trying to win back the trust of the audience with real news and honest analysis critics contended CNN doubled down on the failed “hate Trump strategy” that drove their ratings into the toilet
CNN used to be known as “the most trusted name in news.”
It was always a left-leaning network, but they at least pretended to do journalism.
That is no longer the case at CNN.
And their coverage of the Russian collusion hoax and subsequent fallout proved it.
