These are dark days for CNN.
The bad news is even worse than anyone feared.
And CNN was forced to face a truth that could destroy the liberal media.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
CNN and network president Jeff Zucker stood by embattled anchor Chris Cuomo for months.
Last May, reports surfaced that Cuomo participated in calls with his brother New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s advisors to develop a P.R. strategy to respond to women accusing Governor Cuomo of sexual harassment.
CNN suspended Cuomo when the New York State attorney general released a report detailing how Cuomo told investigators that he pressed his friends in the corporate media for leads on the women accusing his brother.
But everyone thought that was just a temporary suspension and CNN would eventually put Chris Cuomo back on the air.
However, a former co-worker at another network alleging sexual misconduct proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and CNN fired Cuomo.
CNN’s handling of Cuomo blew up as a scandal as CNN loves to lecture Fox News on what it means to be a news network while letting Chris Cuomo attempt to discredit women accusing his brother of sexual assault – a role reserved for partisan hatchet men.
CNN could also no longer ignore the scandal and former media columnist for The Baltimore Sun, David Zurawik, appeared on far-left activist Brian Stelter’s “Reliable Sources” program and took CNN to task for torching their credibility as a news network to cover up for Cuomo’s political dirty tricks.
“Has CNN lost trust as a result of this?” Stelter wondered.
Zurawik tried to duck the question.
“I don’t know,” Zurawik answered. “That’s hard to say if CNN lost trust.”
But Zurawik acknowledged the complaints about media bias against Republicans admitting that “we watch some people harder than other people.”
Finally, Zurawik admitted that CNN lit whatever credibility the pro-Democrat Party propaganda network had on fire by turning a blind eye to Cuomo going on air every night presenting himself as a news anchor when in reality the Cuomo working behind the scenes put CNN in service of the governor of New York.
“We’ve really lost sense of media ethics,” Zurawik added. “In our profession, especially in the last few years, you have to ask yourself first — and this is the mistake Chris Cuomo made, and in some sense I think CNN made this same mistake in not forcing him to ask it — Who do you work for? Who do you serve? Obviously you serve and work for your employer or you don’t get a check. But beyond that, who are you talking to? You should be serving the public. That oftentimes puts you at odds with people in power.”
CNN spent years falsely claiming Fox News was “state TV” because some primetime opinion hosts supported Donald Trump and his agenda.
But CNN was literal state TV by condoning Chris Cuomo obliterating the line between cable news network and the office of the governor of New York.
CNN’s conduct was so egregious that even the network’s own hosts and guests were forced to admit CNN suffered a major black eye.
