Democrats have their eyes set on growing their majorities in Congress next November.
But they got some bad news.
And Trey Gowdy crushed the Democrat Party with one brutal fact.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
In the 2020 campaign, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar’s call to defund the police proved to be a millstone around the necks of Democrats across the country.
Republicans flipped 14 seats in the House by painting their Democrat rivals as puppets of a radical base that wanted to impose socialism on America and gut law enforcement.
Trey Gowdy showed how emotionally powerful a pro-police message can be on the latest broadcast of the 7PM Fox News opinion primetime show.
It’s Gowdy’s turn to guest host and he opened his show with an emotional monologue about twin tragedies where brave members of law enforcement lost their lives.
“We give the police awesome powers and we have high expectations for the police. They have the right to expect certain things from us, too,” Gowdy began. “There are a lot of hard jobs in our country. But I can’t imagine anything harder than being a police officer. The hours are long. The pay is not good. The job is hard on your family. There are physical dangers, but there is also an emotional price to pay.”
Gowdy described the emotional scene at the Capitol where officer Brian Sicknick laid in state after he died in the line of duty at the January 6 riot at the Capitol and the horrible tragedy where an accused child abuser shot two FBI agents trying to serve a warrant as representative of the dangers police officers know they could encounter on the job.
“We lost a police officer during the storming of the Capitol. We lost FBI agents yesterday,” Gowdy added. “My hope is we can all do a better job of appreciating cops and the job they do before it’s too late. We should have high expectations of them. But they should have high expectations of us, too. One of those expectations is to simply say thank you while they are still able to hear us. So to every law enforcement officer in the country who can still hear us, thank you for your service.”
Democrats still have not learned their lesson.
In a video on social media that went viral, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed she was worried a Capitol Hill police officer that tried to direct her to safety during the riot was there to kill her because he was white.
Republicans believe if they can focus on the rhetorical and policy excesses of Ocasio-Cortez and her allies on defunding the police and communicate a message like Trey Gowdy’s, they can score a decisive victory in the 2022 midterms and win back control of Congress.
