Democrats did not want to hear this.
But the bad news came anyway.
And Chuck Schumer was at a loss for words over this news of impending doom.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
Polls showed the Democrats set up for a wipeout.
Joe Biden’s job approval rating is in the low 40s and the generic ballot question of which party Americans wanted to see running Congress greatly favored the Republican Party.
Democrats then latched on to a leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito overturning Roe v. Wade.
Top party officials held on to the belief that the Supreme Court reversing abortion on demand in all 50 states would spur a massive turnout of furious liberals allowing Democrats to hang on to the Senate.
Republicans only needed to flip five seats in the House of Representatives and even Democrats concede the House is a lost cause.
But in the 50/50 Senate Democrats thought abortion would help them defend seats in Georgia, Arizona, New Hampshire and Nevada while playing offense in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Joe Biden articulated this message in a statement after the leak where Biden urged Democrats to flood the polls this November and elect pro-abortion majorities.
“If the Court does overturn Roe, it will fall on our nation’s elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman’s right to choose. And it will fall on voters to elect pro-choice officials this November,” Biden wrote.
Biden then promised that if Democrats held on to the Senate, Biden would sign the most expansive pro-abortion bill in American history into law.
“At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law,” Biden added.
But fresh polling data from CNN of all places showed just how badly Biden and the Democrats miscalculated.
CNN found that the GOP’s advantage in voter enthusiasm increased by two points following the leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion.

And CNN also found that the Republican advantage on the congressional generic ballot questions jumped from one point pre-leak to six points after POLITICO published the draft opinion.

Far from helping Democrats, CNN’s polling showed the leak galvanized the pro-life majority in America ahead of the November election.
And that could spell the end of Chuck Schumer and the Democrats holding the majority in the Senate.
