Democrats are learning a tough lesson about payback.
It’s coming in the one fight that could shake the Democrat Party to its core.
And Clarence Thomas waited 30 years to deal Joe Biden one big defeat.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
Liberals are terrified about the upcoming Supreme Court term.
The justices agreed to hear First Amendment cases on religious liberty and expanding the ability of candidates to self-fund political speech.
There is also a case on the docket that could greatly expand the scope of the Second Amendment.
Justices also took up a case that could weaken the ability of unelected bureaucrats to expand the meaning of the law to increase the government’s control over Americans’ lives.
And the main event is the case deciding the constitutionality of Mississippi’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks which could overturn – or greatly cripple – the wrongly decided Roe v. Wade case.
Clarence Thomas waited 30 years for these cases.
Thomas is on record opposing Roe and stating that the court treated the Second Amendment like a disfavored right, and the left fears a massive string of losses that undo much of the left’s regulatory and social agenda.
That fear shone through in a piece on CNN where the left-wing activist that covered the Supreme Court took Thomas asking questions during oral arguments – Thomas famously went years between quizzing the plaintiff’s and defendant’s counsel – as a sign that Thomas took charge of the conservative majority and was preparing for big wins on major conservative priorities.
CNN’s Supreme Court reporter Ariane de Vogue wrote:
Justice Clarence Thomas — who has rarely posed questions in the courtroom for years — asked the first question in both argued cases. The move signals that Thomas has in many ways emerged as the court’s conservative leader.
In the areas of abortion and gun rights, he has long maintained that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and that the court was treating the Second Amendment as a disfavored right. Now, over the next months, the new conservative court will hear disputes in both areas with Thomas likely playing a strong role in shaping draft opinions that fly between chambers.
Thomas is now the longest serving member, and when the chief justice is in the minority, it is Thomas, because of his seniority, who gets the all-important power to assign the court opinion.
There are six Republican-appointed justices on the Supreme Court.
Conservatives can afford to lose center-left Chief Justice John Roberts on any given vote and still win the ruling.
And since Clarence Thomas is the most senior Republican appointee on the court, that gives him standing to either write the opinion himself or pick which justice writes it if Thomas is in the majority and Roberts is not.
Thomas’ ability to shape the decisions is why Thomas asking questions in oral arguments freaks out the left.
