Anti-Trump host Chris Wallace is charting a new career path at CNN.
It’s not going well.
And now CNN is ruined after what Chris Wallace just did.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
Former “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace’s CNN show debut titled “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” tanked.
The new program only reached 401,000 viewers, according to Nielsen ratings, and drew only 44,000 viewers from the highly important 25-to-54 demographic during his show, which aired in the 7 p.m. ET hour.
Wallace was supposed to be one of the faces of CNN+. However the launch of CNN’s streaming service was such a failure that they shut it down in under a month and “Who’s Talking” was shifted to appear weekly on CNN and HBO Max, instead of stream four days a week.
In comparison “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” on Fox drew in triple Wallace’s viewers with over 1.3 million tuning in, and 78,000 viewers aged 25-54 watched the former South Carolina congressman.
“Total Bomb!” @johnnydollar01 shared the news. “Chris Wallace’s CNN Show Premiere Tanks, Pulls Only 44k Viewers In Key Demo. The program was down double digits across every category vs the 2022 average. On Fox @TGowdySC scored a massive 1.3M viewers with 78k in the key 25-54 age demo …”
People pointed out that Wallace must be regretting leaving Fox.
“FoxNews made Chris Wallace, didn’t need him. Ratings don’t lie,” Mike Cernovich tweeted.
At first Wallace claimed that he left Fox because he was just looking for a change.
“After 18 years, I have decided to leave FOX. I want to try something new, to go beyond politics, to all of the things I’m interested in,” he explained during his final “Fox News Sunday” broadcast. “I’m ready for a new adventure, and I hope you’ll check it out. And so, for the last time dear friends, that’s it for today.”
Wallace later changed his story and stated that he wanted a change because he didn’t like the questions that the people at Fox were asking.
“I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion,” Wallace said. “But when people start to question the truth — Who won the 2020 election? Was Jan. 6 an insurrection? — I found that unsustainable. I spent a lot of 2021 looking to see if there was a different place for me to do my job,” he said.
CNN has been struggling with ratings and has been making major changes and cutting jobs in order to try and turn things around.
“CNN is in a bad place. The ratings are down really dramatically year over year,” one seasoned media executive told the New York Post. “I’m not sure the company understands how hard it is [to dig out].”
