Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar had it coming.
But Omar did not take it well.
And Ilhan Omar erupted when she found out Republicans planned to fire her form this job in Congress.
As Great American Daily reports:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has promised that he will bar Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) from committees if elected speaker of the House.
“One thing I have said from the very beginning is Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So I will not allow him to be on Intel. You have Adam Schiff, who lied to the American public time and again. We will not allow him to be on the Intel committee either.” McCarthy said on FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
McCarthy then explained why he would remove Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Look, Congresswoman Omar, her anti-Semitic comments that have gone forward, we’re not going to allow her to be on Foreign Affairs, but we’re also going to stand up to what’s happening not just in the halls of Congress, but what’s happening to our higher education institutions, the antisemitism that’s going on on these campuses and others,” McCarthy stated. “We’ll investigate that as well and stop this to make sure that America does have the freedom that we said we would keep, and we will stand up to it as we move forward.”
This statement sent Omar into a meltdown.
“From the moment I was elected, the Republican Party has made it their mission to use fear, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racism to target me on the House Floor and through millions of dollars of campaign ads,” she claimed.
“McCarthy’s effort to repeatedly single me out for scorn and hatred, including threatening to strip me from my committee, does nothing to address the issues our constituents deal with,” she added. “It does nothing to address inflation, healthcare, or solve the climate crisis.”
Omar claimed that McCarthy’s “threat” was going to “gin up fear and hate against Somali Americans and anyone who shares my identity, and further divide us along racial and ethnic lines.
“It is a continuation of a sustained campaign against Muslim and African voices, people his party have been trying to ban since Donald Trump first ran for office,” she added.
Omar has made multiple controversial remarks about Israel.
She has compared America and Israel to the terrorist groups Hamas and the Taliban and said the two democracies have committed “unthinkable atrocities.”
“We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” wrote Omar. “I asked [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] where people are supposed to go for justice.”
Omar also has come under scrutiny for a since-deleted tweet from 2012 where she wrote, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”
