Joe Biden faced criticism from a source that is sure to infuriate him.
It was one of the worst surprises of his life.
And Joe Biden will be furious when he sees what the Pope just said about him.
As Conservative Revival reports:
Pope Benedict XVI passed away at the age of 95 from natural causes.
Benedict served as the leader of the Catholic Church from 2005 until his shocking retirement in 2013.
It was initially assumed that Joe Biden – a self-proclaimed Catholic – would attend the former Pope’s funeral.
But Biden was not attending and instead the administration sent Ambassador to the Vatican Joe Donnelly to represent the government at Benedict’s funeral.
“The U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Joe Donnelly, will represent the United States at the funeral of the Pope, in line with the wishes of the late Pope and the Vatican,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced. “This is what — this is what their requests were. This is what their wishes were.”
Reporters questioned Biden as to why he would skip the Pope’s funeral and Biden snapped at the question.
Benedict wanted a simple funeral and Biden’s security, and protocol entourage would interfere with that wish.
“Well, why do you think? You tell me,” Biden raging telling the reporter “The reason why I’m not attending the funeral tomorrow is that it takes an entourage of 1,000 people, not literally, but we would move everything in the wrong direction.”
Biden then hinted there was a philosophical disagreement with Benedict as well.
“We would just get in the way, but I’ve made my views known,” Biden added. “Any rate, I think he was a fine man.”
Pope Benedict was a stalwart defender of unborn life.
In previous comments Benedict accepted Biden’s claim to being a Catholic at his word, but Benedict chided Biden for ignoring the Church teaching on abortion in order to advance in the Democrat Party.
“It’s true, he’s Catholic and observant and personally he is against abortion,” Benedict continued. “But as president, he tends to present himself in continuity with the line of the Democratic Party, and on gender politics we have not yet fully understood what his position is.”
Before Benedict was Pope he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Ratzinger authored a memo urging priests to deny pro-abortion politicians like Joe Biden communion at mass due to the fact they were not in a state of grace due to supporting the killing of the unborn.
“Regarding the grave sin of abortion or euthanasia, when a person’s formal cooperation becomes manifest (understood, in the case of a Catholic politician, as his consistently campaigning and voting for permissive abortion and euthanasia laws), his Pastor should meet with him, instructing him about the Church’s teaching, informing him that he is not to present himself for Holy Communion until he brings to an end the objective situation of sin, and warning him that he will otherwise be denied the Eucharist,” then-Cardinal Ratzinger wrote.
Joe Biden completely rejects the Church teaching by championing abortion on demand up until the moment of birth.
Biden may have avoided Pope Benedict’s funeral in accordance with Benedict’s wishes for a small funeral.
But Biden surely wanted to avoid questions about how Biden can claim to be a Catholic while spitting in the face of one of the great causes of Benedict’s life.
