Americans were left speechless.
No one had ever seen anything like this before.
And this Hollywood star just apologized for one political statement.
As Great American Daily reports:
For over a decade John Cena was the biggest star in WWE playing the role of the muscle-bound all-American good guy that believed in “hustle, loyalty and respect.”
But in the last several years Cena’s moved off to Hollywood where his career began to take off with a role in the “Transformers” franchise reboot “Bumblebee.”
Cena’s biggest break came when he replaced fellow WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood leading man Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the ninth installment of the “Fast and Furious” series.
However, Cena’s star turn morphed into the biggest embarrassment of his career.
During the press tour for “Fast and Furious 9”—which debuts in June after having been delayed for over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic—Cena told reporters that “Taiwan will be the first country to see” the new “Fast and Furious” movie.
Calling Taiwan a country enraged the Communist Chinese.
In 1948, Communist revolutionaries chased Chiang Kai-shek and the legitimate government of mainland China to Taiwan.
Chiang Kai-shek established the Republic of China in Taiwan while the Communists claimed the mainland was the People’s Republic of China.
America’s sadly had a “one China” policy for decades where the government only recognizes the Communist government on the mainland as the “true” China.
John Cena acknowledging Taiwan as a country ran afoul of over 70 years of Communist Chinese propaganda that their revolutionary government is the real China and that Taiwan has no claim on being a nation.
That’s why Cena—whose physical strength is often compared to a comic book superhero—filmed a humiliating video where Cena blubbered his way through an apology spoken in Mandarin which only served to emasculate the action star.
“I love and respect China and Chinese people. I’m very, very sorry for my mistake. Sorry, sorry. I’m very sorry. You must understand I love and respect China and Chinese people. Sorry. Goodbye,” Cena said in what looked to many like a hostage-style video.
You can see Cena’s video at the bottom of this article.
Beginning in the 1990s, so-called “experts” claimed that if America engaged in “free” trade with China, a liberalized Chinese economy would lead to a liberalized political order.
Instead the opposite happened.
As the Chinese economy prospered, the Communist government tightened its grip on the nation.
The Communist Chinese government forced over one million Uighur Muslims into concentration camps, the internet is heavily censored and American industries are so dependent on Chinese money—“Fast and Furious 9” would have missed out on hundreds of millions in ticket sales had the Communists banned the movie over Cena’s remark—that they must bow to the Communists’ wishes and spread Chinese government propaganda.
