Alvin Bragg’s crusade to interfere in the 2024 election by indicting Donald Trump keeps hitting speed bump after speed bump.
Bragg’s decision to bring bogus charges against Trump looks worse and worse by the day.
And now Donald Trump slapped Alvin Bragg with the bad news that will make his life a living hell.
Donald Trump’s lawyers filed a motion to move his case to federal court and out of Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom.
Trump’s lawyers argued that some of the alleged falsifying of business records to record payments to Michael Cohen for the nondisclosure agreement to Stormy Daniels took place in 2017 when Trump was president.
In addition, Trump’s lawyers noted that Bragg is alleging Trump falsified these business records to cover up a federal election law violation of accepting an illegal campaign contribution.
Bragg responded by claiming the matter belonged in state court where Bragg could count on a stacked deck with the judge and jury.
“Defendant was charged by a New York county grand jury with New York crimes for falsifying the business records of private New York enterprises while reimbursing his personal lawyer for a pre-election expenditure,” Bragg wrote. “He does not plausibly meet the required elements to justify removal to federal court.”
The Soros-backed Bragg was the first Democrat prosecutor to bring criminal charges against Trump.
Even liberal legal analysts and Democrats privately and publicly worried that Bragg bringing such a weak case against Trump would harm the efforts by the Democrat District Attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, Fani Willis, and Merrick Garland’s handpicked anti-Trump special counsel Jack Smith to use their looming indictments to ruin Trump’s chances in the 2024 election.
After Bragg indicted Trump, Americans saw what a joke the case was and rallied to Trump’s side.
Trump’s poll numbers shot up from a 17-point lead over DeSantis on April 1 – just days before the Bragg indictment – to over 31 points as of May 28.
But Democrats expected Republicans to rally around Trump following a politically motivated indictment.
However, Democrats hoped the upshot would be the indictment would be swing voters permanently rejecting Trump as damaged goods and a criminal.
That did not happen.
The Real Clear Politics polling average shows Trump leading Joe Biden by 1.8 points.
Democrats weaponized the legal system as a final Hail Mary to stop Trump.
Liberals know the public sees Joe Biden as a failed president who is too physically frail and senile to deserve another four years.
An election that is a referendum on Joe Biden is a sure loss for the left.
Democrats tried to turn the election into a choice between Biden and Trump – who Democrats assumed would be crippled by the indictments.
But that turned out to be a false hope as Bragg’s preposterously weak case gave the game away to the public.
