MSNBC is in a state of chaos.
A hard split at the network is mirroring the same split happening in the Democrat Party.
And now one MSNBC host is in hot water after a shocking allegation.
The Democrats are currently in the throes of a messy civil war.
The moderates in the party are being besieged by the far-left socialists and “woke” identity politics radicals.
The Joe Biden wing of the party is making its last stand against the Bernie Sanders insurgency.
And the same thing is happening with liberal networks like MSNBC.
The network has hosts who fall in the moderate lane or socialist lane.
One of their moderate hosts, Chris Matthews, who voted for George W. Bush in 2000, has become a vocal critic of Sanders and his movement.
Matthews may be a liberal who bashes the right, but he’s also a staunch anti-communist who remembers the Cold War.
During a post-debate panel, Matthews remarked, “I remember the Cold War. I have an attitude towards Castro. I believe if Castro and the Reds had won the Cold War, there would have been executions in Central Park and I might have one of the ones getting executed and certain other people would be there cheering.”
Matthews’s rant against Sandersism and its socialist roots have raised eyebrows, and Matthews was conspicuously missing during MSNBC’s coverage of the South Carolina primary.
However, there was another shocking allegation.
In an article for GQ, journalist Laura Bassett accused Matthews of sexual harassment during her multiple appearances on his show, “Hardball.”
Bassett’s claims landed because Matthews had been reprimanded in the past for using inappropriate language.
Bassett wrote, “He has repeatedly lusted over women in politics on air, including remarking in 2011 that there’s ‘something electric’ and ‘very attractive’ about the way former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin walks and moves.”
Matthews also had an embarrassing on-air moment when he asked guest Erin Burnett to lean in closer to the camera so he could admire her face.
“You’re a knockout…It’s all right getting bad news from you,” said Matthews to a flummoxed Burnett.
As spotty as Matthews’s past is, the timing of these allegations is suspicious.
These incidents happened years ago, but have only surfaced in light of Matthews’s hardcore criticism of Sanders.
Sanders has recently come under fire for praising Fidel Castro’s literacy program, which is absurd.
The literacy program consisted of censorship and communist indoctrination.
Matthews has written books on the Kennedys and shares the Kennedy view of anti-communism.
With the moderate and socialist split happening within the Democrat Party, as well as at MSNBC, the Democratic primary is only going to get more heated.
With the primary field thinning, there’s a high likelihood that the Democrats could be headed for a brokered convention in Milwaukee, which will see the craziness dialed up to an 11.
