With just days remaining in the campaign neither party can afford a major blow up.
But the left just got one.
And three police reports spell big trouble for a Democrat running in this key race.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
A Michigan Democratic candidate who was trying to become the youngest lawmaker in Michigan history and was endorsed by top members of his party is halting his campaign after allegations surfaced that he had threatened schools he attended.
Maurice Imhoff of Jackson, Michigan was running in a tight race for a seat in the state’s House of Representatives when police reports were revealed that suggested that Imhoff was investigated three times in high school for allegedly making school shooting threats and in addition was on probation for assaulting a police officer, according to The Detroit News.
Imhoff had been endorsed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee according to his website but they are quickly trying to distance themselves.
“The allegations are serious and concerning. Governor Whitmer does not support Maurice Imhoff’s campaign for State Representative,” Maeve Coyle, a spokeswoman for Whitmer’s campaign, said in a statement to the Daily Caller.
In the past Whitmer had called him a “passionate problem solver.”
Imhoff was reportedly investigated by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in 2016 after another student told her mother about concerning social media posts from Imhoff. The sheriff’s office said the posts allegedly suggested “he was going to cause trouble at school and [possibly] shoot up students inside the school and also shoot himself.”
Mya Connell recounted her alleged experiences with Imhoff on her personal Facebook page on Saturday.
“I tried to break up with [Imhoff] again and what did he do ? threatened to shoot up northwest middle school. he sent messages to students he posted it to his story,” her post read.
She claims that Imhoff was arrested for his actions.
“He brought a fake weapon to school to scare students even more. it worked. he had everyone scared. the police were called and he was obviously arrested because yes it’s true MAURICE IMHOFF threatened to SHOOT NORTHWEST middle school up,” the post continued.
Imhoff’s accuser alleged that he even sent nude photographs of her to her own mother.
“[So] i went to school and wasn’t texting back and because of that he sent my nudes to my mother. he literally told me text me back or i’m gonna send your nudes while you’re at school. and he did,” her post explained.
After these allegations came to light Imhoff said after doing some “soul searching and speaking with family, friends and supporters” of his campaign, he came to the conclusion to end his run for state office.
“This decision did not come lightly, and I cannot express the amount of appreciation I have for those who have helped me change, grow and heal,” Imhoff wrote. “I hope to continue to give back to Jackson in the future because this community has made me who I am today.”
