Liberal comedian Bill Maher earned the scorn of the left by criticizing the insanity of the woke mob.
Some on both the left and right think Maher will leave the Democrat Party.
And now Bill Maher dropped this shocker about becoming a Trump supporter.
Trump supporter and music legend Kid Rock proposed that Bill Maher have dinner with President Trump when Kid Rock appeared on Maher’s podcast.
Kid Rock pitched the idea as trying to bridge the partisan divide in America.
In a subsequent episode of his podcast, Maher told Chris Cuomo that he took Kid Rock up on the offer and that he would go to the White House for dinner with Trump.
“I’m doing it because, first of all, it was presented as … maybe this is a beginning to heal America. Now, I don’t have some sort of complex where I think I can heal America,” Maher stated.
Maher said he wasn’t delusional enough to think him having dinner with Trump would end polarization in America, but that it was good to show Americans that two people who disagree can still sit down and share a meal and a conversation.
“I can’t. Okay, let’s get that clear — I’m not going to be healing America. But if two guys who’ve been at each other for so long — I mean, it’s kind of a [former President Richard] Nixon-to-China thing,” Maher added.
Maher said his credentials as an actual Democrat were impeccable.
“I have the credentials. There was nobody who was harder on Trump or more prescient about the fact that he wasn’t going to leave office voluntarily than I was,” Maher went on to say.
Maher said that people on the right respected him because he spoke out against the lunacy on the left.
“I feel like I have the credentials. But they also respect me because I’m honest about the woke train to Crazy Town, and I don’t shrink from that,” Maher declared.
Maher also called it an “honor” that Trump would invite him to the White House in the first place.
“I’m impressed by it. A lot. I’m impressed the f*** out of it. I get to go to the White House. And yes, that is the structure of this dinner — it’s just, ‘Let’s talk. Let’s talk to each other face to face. Let’s stop shouting from 3,000 miles away,’ you know?” Maher stated.
But Maher warned Trump supporters not to get their hopes up because he would walk out of the White House as the same partisan Democrat as when he walked in.
“So if they expect me to be leaving in a MAGA hat, they’re going to be very disappointed. But I know they don’t. And I think it’s going to be — you know, look, it probably will accomplish very little, but you gotta try, man. You gotta try,” Maher concluded.
Cuomo applauded Maher’s decision and said he would have his back if the left gave him any grief about dining with someone they deluded themselves into thinking is Hitler reincarnated.
“I love that you’re going. I think it’s great for exactly the reasons you said. … And I will celebrate it when it happens,” Cuomo declared.
