Everyone assumed Chris Cuomo and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were allies.
Everyone assumed wrong.
And Chris Cuomo started a fight with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for one unthinkable reason.
Chris Cuomo Lays into Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Chris Cuomo is not exactly someone who has a reputation for being conservative, as he is the brother of Andrew Cuomo and famously was a liberal anchor for CNN for years.
But now that he is gone from CNN, he has more freedom to speak his mind, and it’s not always good news for Democrats.
He is apparently not a very big fan of socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and he is not afraid to let people know about it.
Cuomo went on a rant about Ocasio-Cortez and made it clear that he thinks she’s hurting her party.
There will certainly be some Democrats who agree with him, but others will be furious by what he said.
After all, Ocasio-Cortez has built up a serious following among young cosmopolitan progressives who have very left-wing views.
These people want her to be the future of the party, even if it causes the party to lose more elections.
Cuomo Calls Her the “Face of the Problem” for Democrats on Immigration
According to MSN, “NewsNation host Chris Cuomo argued Monday that Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s approach to immigration exemplifies why Democrats fell short in the November election.
“President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris after campaigning heavily on addressing the immigration crisis created under her and former President Joe Biden’s administration. Cuomo, on ‘CUOMO,’ said Ocasio-Cortez’s recent comments on X about Trump’s ultimately successful Sunday standoff with Colombia over deportation flights and her record in Congress demonstrate just how out of touch she is with the American public.”
The American people have made clear where they stand on immigration, which is that they are not anti-immigration, but they are vehemently against allowing criminals to stay here.
The fact that Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez can’t even get on board with that reasonable proposition is concerning.
Here is part of what Cuomo said: “Witness AOC, the face of the problem for Democrats on this issue. Just now, you saw this this weekend, right? Trump threatens Colombia. Colombia says, ‘We’re not taking the return flights.’ Trump threatens Colombia with tariffs, alright? AOC jumps on it to score a political gotcha, linking the tariffs Trump threatened against Colombia with higher coffee prices and inflation.”
The fact that he called her the “face of the problem for Democrats” on the immigration issue has to hurt.
After all, it’s not a conservative Republican politician or a right-wing Fox News host who is saying those things, it’s Andrew Cuomo’s brother who used to host for CNN.
When even he is criticizing Ocasio-Cortez’s extreme immigration position, that carries a lot of weight.
Cuomo may not hold the exact same immigration views that Trump supporters do, but he apparently doesn’t want violent criminals to stay here.
And because of that, he feels that people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have gotten way more extreme on this issue than he is comfortable with.
