Chuck Schumer wasn’t prepared for this bad news.
There was no way to see it coming.
And Chuck Schumer got hit with a gut punch that sent him reeling.

Left-wing activists have been clamoring for Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) to primary Chuck Schumer when Schumer runs for re-election in 2028.
If Ocasio-Cortez did enter this race, Schumer would begin as a decided underdog as a poll from Data for Progress found Ocasio-Cortez would crush Schumer in a near 20-point landslide.
POLITICO reported that the Data for Progress poll “found that 55 percent of Democratic likely voters said they supported or leaned toward supporting Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, while 36 percent backed or leaned toward backing Sen. Schumer. Nine percent were undecided.”
Schumer’s problems began in March where he surrendered in a bill to freeze spending.
That spending freeze created the legroom for Trump and the GOP Congress to begin work on a reconciliation bill that will slash spending and create the largest tax cuts in American history.
Schumer knew Democrats would lose a government shutdown fight, so he bent the knee to Trump which enraged the left who hoped to use the fight to impose shackles on Elon Musk and DOGE.
That’s when talk of Ocasio-Cortez primarying Schumer first began.
“Privately, House Democrats are so infuriated with Schumer’s decision that some have begun encouraging her to run against Schumer in a primary, according to a Democratic member who directly spoke with Ocasio-Cortez about running at the caucus’ policy retreat. Multiple Democrats in the Congressional Progressive Caucus and others directly encouraged Ocasio-Cortez to run on Thursday night after Schumer’s announcement, this member said,” CNN exclusively reported.
The anger in the Democrat Party directed at Schumer was so broadly based that even Democrats in swing seats said they would fund Ocasio-Cortez’s primary challenge.
“The member said that Democrats in Leesburg were ‘so mad’ that even centrist Democrats were ‘ready to write checks for AOC for Senate,’ adding that they have ‘never seen people so mad,’” CNN also reported.
When asked about the possibility of primarying Chuck Schumer, Ocasio-Cortez left that door wide open with her response.
“There are members of Congress who have won Trump-held districts in some of the most difficult territory in the United States who walked the plank and took innumerable risks in order to defend the American people, in order to defend Social Security and Medicaid and Medicare,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a gathering with reporters. “Just to see Senate Democrats even consider acquiescing to Elon Musk, I think is a huge slap in the face. And I think there is a wide sense of betrayal if things proceed as currently planned.”
Schumer knows the left is breathing down his neck.
That’s why Schumer took base-pleasing, but ultimately politically self-defeating stands like opposing legislation to ban biological men from women’s sports. But at the end of the day, nothing Schumer does may save him if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decides Schumer has to go and mounts a primary campaign
