John Fetterman just can’t help himself.
The Pennsylvania Democrat alienated both Republicans and Democrats with his antics.
And what John Fetterman told Fox News had every Democrat cringing with embarrassment.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Fetterman defended Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer nixing the dress code so Fetterman could show up to work dressed like he just walked out of the line at a soup kitchen.
Fetterman wears shorts and a hoodie to cosplay like a blue-collar Joe with a six-pack when in reality he comes from a family of great wealth and his primary income – until he was nearly 50 years old – was the allowance his mom and dad gave to him.
Other critics suspect that Fetterman’s near-fatal stroke left him impaired to the point that he either couldn’t put on a suit or would breakdown mentally without his comfort clothes.
In the Fox News interview, Fetterman claimed that dressing like a bum for one of the most prestigious jobs in the country is an American’s right of freedom.
“I feel it’s a little more freedom, which should be bipartisanship,” Fetterman told Fox News. “I don’t know why the right side seems to be losing their minds over it.”
But Fetterman knew the temperature has been rising in the Senate over his choice of attire and said he’d dress like a bum less often.
“I think it’s a good thing, but I’m going to use it sparingly,” Fetterman added. “I hope other colleagues take advantage of it too.”
Republicans and Democrats both balked at Fetterman treating the Senate like a frat house.
“This is a terribly sad development for the U.S. Senate,” Wyoming Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis told reporters. “I’ve never seen civility enhanced or a sense of decorum enhanced by dressing like a slob.”
“When you dress like that around here, which is the very sloppiest that a person would dress even if they’re going to a gym by themselves … the bar is lowered,” Lummis added. “The Senate is degraded. It’s debased. It should not be typical of how we dress when we go to the floor of the United States Senate.”
Even gun-grabbing West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin – who votes in lockstep with Fetterman on imposing socialism and gutting the Second Amendment – thought Fetterman went too far and introduced a resolution with the support of both Democrats and Republicans to restore the dress code.
“Next week, Senator Manchin intends to file a bipartisan resolution to ensure the Senate dress code remains consistent with previous expectations,” a spokesperson for Manchin told Fox News Digital.
