Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is one of the most controversial celebrities on the planet.
Markle is in the middle of another fine mess.
And Meghan Markle made this huge life-changing announcement.
With her career in Hollywood floundering and her social status declining, Markle sought to reinvent herself as a lifestyle brand influencer with a product line marketed at the elite of the elite.
Markle’s American Riviera Orchard strawberry jam product debuted in Instagram stories posted by polo star Nacho Figueras’ wife Delfina Balquier and fashion designer Tracy Robbins.
This strawberry jam product launch comes on the heels of Markle and her husband Prince Harry rebounding from Spotify ending their podcast deal by inking an agreement to make shows for Netflix.
One of the series will be a lifestyle home, gardening and cooking show featuring Markle.
To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield explained to Fox News that rather than getting into the influencer market, Prince Harry and Markle could have repaired their reputation.
In 2020 Markle and Harry quit the royal family.
And in 2021 the pair torched their bridges by smearing the royals as racists in an interview with Oprah.
Schofield said this was a missed opportunity to stand by Princess Kate Middleton and King Charles after the announcement of their cancer diagnoses and come looking like gallant adults.
“Her ultimate objective today is to build an empire, change public perception through related Netflix content, and build a lifestyle brand through retail and content creation,” Schofield told Fox News. “But some might see it as Meghan just reverting back to influencer. This is a space that she feels confident in, so she could make it work, but compared to the hype that surrounded her upon exiting the royal family… this feels like settling for something very… shallow.”
“Had Meghan had patience and more respect for the royal institution, 2024 would have been the year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saved the day, saved the monarchy,” Schofield concluded. “It would have been their time to shine. Instead, Meghan is dropping off preserve baskets to the 1% in Santa Barbara. So much for living a life of service.”
British royal family expert Hilary Fordwich offered a more searing take.
Fordwich mocked Harry and Meghan for saying they quit the royal family to “live a life of service.”
Meghan pushing products that only the top one percent of the elite could afford was a far cry from trying to clothe the needy or feed the hungry, Fordwich snarked.
“The former power couple, who were going to change lives for the better, influence world opinion and leaders, improve the environment and declared their life of service with their ‘service is universal’ statement, are now reduced to flogging jam,” Fordwich stated.
“Since they have publicly preached humanitarianism, what happened to helping the poor and starving?” Fordwich continued. “One wonders if the proceeds from the jam will be donated to humanitarian causes. Is she going to feed them her jam? In keeping with their charitable and humanitarian causes, perhaps all the proceeds will be donated?”
