The hosts of “The View” have been suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome for years.
One case is exceptionally bad.
And a co-host on “The View” made the worst mistake of her life picking this fight with Donald Trump.
In the mid-late aughts, one of the signature celebrity feuds took place between Donald Trump and “The View’s” Rosie O’Donnell.
But since Trump was simply a billionaire real estate developer and TV star, the feud played in the tabloids.
Now it’s back.
Rosie O’Donnell appeared on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation show with Bill O’Reilly where she launched into a rant about how democracy will cease to exist if Trump wins in November, but that Americans need to come together and heal following the election.
“I agree with you [Bill] and I think that no matter who wins in November, this country has a lot of healing to do. We have to forgive each other for our trespasses and our misconceptions. And then try to reunite as one country, united, and that’s the dangerous thing that’s happening when I say, Chris, Democracy is on trial. It’s because without this, we’re nothing as a nation. We have to get everyone back together again in some way,” O’Donnell raged.
O’Reilly pointed out that unity and healing would be rather difficult after she just accused Trump and his supporters of taking part in a fascist movement to end the American experiment of democratic self-government.
“Okay, but Rosie with all due respect, you’re not going to be successful saying ‘democracy is on trial’ and anybody who supports Donald Trump is a fascist. You’re not. I mean those people are going to reject you 100% because there’s a lot more to it than you are presenting,” O’Reilly responded.
This beef between O’Donnell and Trump dates back to 2006.
During a December episode of “The View,” O’Donnell took issue with Trump – who owned the Miss USA pageant at the time – giving a second chance to winner Tara Conner after Conner was caught partying in Manhattan night clubs and using cocaine.
“Tara is going to be given a second chance,” Trump declared. “She’s agreed to go into rehab.”
O’Donnell accused Trump of using Conner’s situation to make himself look good as a PR stunt ahead of “The Apprentice’s” season premiere.
“So, Donald Trump is in the news again. Because his show ‘The Apprentice’ is starting again in January, he held a big press conference to see if he was going to allow Miss U.S.A.—such a prestigious title…” O’Donnell raged.
O’Donnell also attacked Trump’s divorces, claiming he had no right to be the one to give Conner the benefit of the doubt.
“He’s the moral authority? Left the first wife, had an affair. Left the second wife, had an affair. Had kids both times. But he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America? Donald, sit and spin my friend! I don’t enjoy him. No, no, no,” O’Donnell added.
Trump is a counterpuncher and fired back with one of the all-time great takedowns.
It appeared like this feud was in the past.
But O’Donnell looks like she’s unwilling to let it go.
