Melania Trump isn’t known as a confrontational person.
But the incoming first lady just received the shabbiest treatment anyone had ever seen.
And Melania Trump just got publicly insulted by the last person she ever expected.
Every living former president and vice president attended Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
That brought President-elect Donald Trump into contact with former Vice President Mike Pence.
Mike Pence spread the big lie that Donald Trump was a threat to democracy during his failed challenge to Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary.
Pence then refused to endorse Trump once Trump won the nomination as Pence clung to the lie that Trump wasn’t fit to be president until the bitter end.
But Trump still took the high road and went up and shook Pence’s hand when he saw him at the funeral.
CNN’s John King said it was the type of gesture Americans need to see more of.
“I would posit that what we’re seeing right now, which is wonderful, a moment of bipartisanship, people coming together will not be an arc. It will be a brief moment. We are days away from the return of Donald Trump and bipartisan Washington,” King began.
“We should celebrate it today. We don’t get enough of it in this town where people have respect for service, respect for individuals, respect for bigger things than party labels. So I would celebrate it today because we will in days, we will not see Mike Pence in the same room as Donald Trump after this day,” King added.
Multiple CNN anchors remarked at how, when Trump went to shake Pence’s hand, it was the first time Pence and Trump were in the same room in four years.
“So as well, there is Donald Trump and Mike Pence. Al Gore, the former Vice President Pence and Trump. It’s the first time they’ve seen each other since January 2021. A lot of tension between the two men and it didn’t look particularly warm just now one might observe. In any case, this is the first president of many that we’re expecting,” Jake Tapper stated.
Kaitlan Collins had to double check with sources in both Trump and Pence’s camps to make sure that was the case and found out that it was.
“And just to go back to that moment where Trump walked into the room and shook hands with Mike Pence, that is the first interaction that those two have had. They have not even been in the same room in four years,” Collins told viewers.
“I called to to just double check that this morning with a few aides of both of theirs. And it just was a moment to see them come and shake hands with one another,” Collins continued.
But the real shameful act that ruined the moment was carried out by none other than Karen Pence.
Karen Pence refused to stand up when the president-elect and incoming first lady entered the row to take their seats.
And Karen Pence refused to make eye contact with Donald Trump or Melania nor would she shake their hands.
