White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is a breath of fresh air.
Leavitt won’t allow the liberal media to get away with their usual tricks.
And Karoline Levitt called out CNN for telling this big lie,
Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum made the designation official following his confirmation.
The Associated Press, however, still think they’re in the resistance game and refused to use the “Gulf of America” designation in their news copy.
So the Trump White House decided not to invite the Associated Press into the Oval Office to cover an event with Donald Trump.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt if the Trump administration was punishing the Associated Press for refusing to use the Gulf of America name.
Leavitt told Collins that no outlet is owed an invitation into the Oval Office as there are hundreds of members of the White House press corps and only a handful get invitations for Oval Office events.
“First of all, let me just set the record straight. It is a privilege to cover this White House. It is a privilege to be the White House press secretary. And nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask a president of the United States questions, that is an invitation that is given,” Leavitt began.
Leavitt also noted the Associated Press was credentialed for the daily briefing, so there was no retaliation.
“And there are hundreds of outlets on this campus, many of you in this room who don’t have the privilege of being part of that pool every single day and getting to ask the president questions. We reserve the right to decide who gets to go into the Oval Office, and you all have credentials to be here including the Associated Press who is in this briefing room today,” Leavitt continued.
Collins tried to argue the point and claim this was an act of vengeance.
Leavitt pushed back hard, reminding Collins that in her very first press briefing, she told reporters she would call them out on their lies and misinformation.
And in this case, the Associated Press was directly misleading the American people by not using the correct name – the Gulf of America – for the body of water that sits off the coast of Louisiana.
“I was upfront on day one if we feel that there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable, and it is a fact that the body of water off the coast of Louisiana is called the Gulf of America, and I am not sure why news outlets don’t want to call it that, but that is what it is,” Leavitt added.
“The secretary of interior has made that the official designation, and geographical identification name server, and Apple has recognized that, Google has recognized that, pretty much every outlet in this room has recognized that body of water as the Gulf of America, and it’s very important to the said administration that we get that right, not just for people here at home but also for the rest of the world,” Leavitt declared.
