The fake news media is out for blood against President Trump.
President Trump and his administration are under siege.
And Donald Trump just faced one crisis that is every president’s worst nightmare.
The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg reported that National Security Adviser Michael Waltz accidentally looped him into a group chat on the Signal app where administration officials discussed President Trump’s plan for airstrikes against Houthi pirates who had attacked American shipping vessels in the Red Sea.
Goldberg claimed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth texted classified war plans to the group, an act which would be a federal crime.
Hegseth slammed Goldberg’s story as another fiction from a “so-called journalist” who deals in anti-Trump hoaxes.
“You’re talking about a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist, who has made a profession of hoaxes time and time again. To include, I don’t know, the hoaxes of ‘Russia, Russia, Russia,’ or the ‘fine people on both sides’ hoax, or ‘Suckers and Losers.’ This is a guy who peddles garbage. This is what he does,” Hegseth stated.
In 2020, Goldberg claimed Trump called Americans who died in war “suckers and losers.”
Goldberg also claimed Trump didn’t want to visit a historic cemetery where the bodies of World War One veterans were buried because the wind would mess up his hair.
Multiple Trump officials – including Never Trumpers like former National Security Adviser John Bolton – went on the record to say these things never happened.
President Trump also slammed Goldberg as a hack in a Cabinet meeting.
“I mean, I happened to know the guy is a total sleazebag. The Atlantic is a failed magazine. It does very, very poorly. Nobody gives a d*mn about it. This gives it a little bit of a shot, and I will tell you this, that they’ve made up more stories, and they’re just a failing magazine,” Trump stated.
Trump called the story a fiction.
“I will say this, from what I heard, the man we are talking about, who is not somebody that I don’t think most people have ever heard of, he found it very boring and left early,” Trump added. “He got off the line very early. So I can’t speak to it other than that. So he made up a lot of stories and I think he is basically bad for the country. But [The Atlantic] is a failing venture. Very failing venture. They’re very upset.”
Last year Goldberg invented another hoax falsely claiming Trump backtracked on a promise to pay for the funeral of Vanessa Guillén, whom another soldier bludgeoned to death while she was stationed at Fort Hood in 2020.
Goldberg reported Trump objected to the cost of the funeral, saying, “it doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f***ing Mexican!” and declaring “don’t pay it!”
Guillén’s sister Mayra came out and refuted the report as fake news and praised President Trump’s conduct towards her family.
“I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members,” Mayra said to The Atlantic. “President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today.”
“My sister’s death was never to be politicized,” Mayra added. “Unbelievable.”
