Mitch McConnell is the leader of the establishment wing of the Republican Party.
McConnell and his ilk represent themselves as allies of President Trump while they plot a coup behind closed doors to sabotage his presidency.
And Mitch McConnell went to war with Donald Trump and you won’t believe how it ended.
Mitch McConnell hoped Joe Biden would arrest, indict, and jail Donald Trump after the events of January 6.
“We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former Presidents are not immune from being held accountable by either one,” McConnell said on February 13, 2021.
McConnell hoped the weaponized justice system would take Trump off the board so McConnell’s handpicked RINO could win the GOP nomination and take the party back to the days of Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney.
Trump winning re-election dashed McConnell’s hopes.
Now McConnell has resorted to plan B.
If McConnell couldn’t keep Trump out of the White House, then McConnell would try and keep Trump’s team from functioning by opposing all of Trump’s key nominees.
McConnell voted against Pete Hegseth for secretary of Defense and Tulsi Gabbard for director of National Intelligence.
And even though the public health bureaucracy waged the largest war on American freedom in over a century by seizing power during the coronavirus pandemic, McConnell voted against accountability by voting “no” on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to serve as secretary of Health and Human Services.
McConnell – who defended mask mandates during COVID and spent his own campaign money and commercials demanding Americans submit to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s controversial coronavirus vaccination regime – absurdly claimed it was Kennedy who was the one pushing misinformation.
“Individuals, parents, and families have a right to push for a healthier nation and demand the best possible scientific guidance on preventing and treating illness. But a record of trafficking in dangerous conspiracy theories and eroding trust in public health institutions does not entitle Mr. Kennedy to lead these important efforts,” McConnell ranted.
McConnell then falsely claimed the COVID vaccine worked as intended and it was Kennedy who denied the science.
“This Administration – led by the same President who delivered a medical miracle with Project Warp Speed – deserves a leader who is willing to acknowledge without qualification the efficacy of life-saving vaccines and who can demonstrate an understanding of basic elements of the U.S. healthcare system. Mr. Kennedy failed to prove he is the best possible person to lead America’s largest health agency,” McConnell continued.
A reporter asked President Trump about McConnell’s “no” votes on his nominees.
Trump explained that McConnell was bitter as it was Trump’s opposition to him carrying on as GOP leader in the Senate that led to McConnell stepping down from the post.
Trump also put McConnell in the Joe Biden category of leaders cognitively unfit to lead as evidence by the fact that McConnell – like Biden – froze up multiple times during his public remarks.
“I feel sorry for Mitch. He’s not equipped to be leader, mentally. He never was. Under him, the Republican Party was going to H*ll. McConnell never really had it. He had votes because he gave money to senators. I was the one that got McConnell to drop out of the leadership position. He’s not voting against Bobby [Kennedy], he’s voting against me. He’s a very bitter guy. But we have a very strong party, and he’s lost his power. It’s affected his vote,” Trump declared.
McConnell opposed Kennedy, Gabbard, and Hegseth.
But the actual story is how McConnell failed to rally enough opposition to sink these nominations.
McConnell is now powerless and isolated within the Republican Party.
That is a once-unthinkable outcome.
