The walls are definitely closing in on Joe Biden.
Biden and his team are even lashing out at normal allies.
And Joe Biden picked a fight with CNN for this mind-blowing reason.
The White House Counsel’s Office is furious with CNN legal analyst and former federal prosecutor Elie Honig.
In Honig’s latest column in New York Magazine, Honig took Biden to task for knowing he kept stolen classified documents at home and that Biden broke the law in doing so.
“Joe Biden knew he had highly classified documents in his home, kept them for a reason, and held on to them for years,” Honig wrote.
“He arguably broke the law, and he definitely misled the American public,” Honig added.
Honig said special counsel Robert Hur found that Biden kept classified documents related to the Afghanistan War at home because he wanted to use them to prove his insistence on withdrawing troops would be vindicated by history.
In his column, Honig explained that the proof Biden knew he kept classified documents at his house came when Hur recounted an episode where Biden told his ghostwriter for his memoir “Promise Me, Dad” that he retrieved the classified documents from his basement.
“Here’s the single most important piece of evidence in Hur’s report: In a recording made by the ghostwriter in February 2017 — a month after Biden left the vice-presidency — Biden says he had ‘just found all the classified stuff downstairs.’ That, folks, is the needle-scratch moment. Up until last week, the party line has essentially been, ‘Hey, classified documents are strewn all around the White House, a bunch of boxes got moved around, transition is chaotic, documents end up in various places; big mistake, whoops, sorry.’ Now we know that’s untrue,” Honig wrote.
Honig’s column earned a rebuke from White House Counsel’s Office spokesman Ian Sams who attacked the column as “an embarrassingly false assessment by Elie Honig, amplified by [NBC reporter] Ken Dilanian, both of whom are smart and can read but apparently haven’t.”
Sams then linked to a letter he sent the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) with instructions on how Joe Biden wished them to cover the Hur report.
“We all make mistakes, but in the interest of presenting factual information to the public, I am compelled to help illustrate the facts in this matter and urge caution in the future with reporting that either is inattentive to detail or misconstrues the facts and evidence,” Sams wrote.
The press operate as functional Democrats but being given public marching orders was too much as WHCA President Kelly O’Donnell immediately clapped back.
“As a non-profit organization that advocates for its members in their efforts to cover the presidency, the WHCA does not, cannot and will not serve as a repository for the government’s views of what’s in the news,” O’Donnell wrote in response to Sams.
The press and a Democrat White House operate in a symbiotic relationship.
For Biden and his team to be at the throats of their operatives in the media means it’s panic time.
