Donald Trump’s standing in the polls remains unchanged no matter how many criminal charges Democrat prosecutors throw at him.
But now all hell is about to break loose.
And Donald Trump held this top-secret meeting that will turn the 2024 election upside down.
Fox News fired Tucker Carlson and instantly lost 30 percent of its primetime audience.
Since instituting a new lineup with Jesse Watters taking over the 8 p.m. time slot Fox News clawed back about 60 percent of the lost audience.
Fox News executives saw the 2024 GOP primary – and especially the debates beginning with the August 23 contest – as the ticket to winning back the remaining viewers as the theory goes Republican voters will not want to watch left-wing networks cover their party’s nominating contest.
But that strategy hinges on one thing – Donald Trump appearing at the debates, and specifically the August 23 event since Fox News will televise the proceeding.
Trump, however, continues to tell associates he won’t show up to the debate arguing it would only elevate rivals he is blowing out in the polls and that Fox News is biased in favor of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
To that end, Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace made a pilgrimage to Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf club to try and convince Trump to attend the debate.
Scott and Wallace figured flattery was their best show so they reportedly told Trump the debates were key to his win in 2016 and that Trump would benefit greatly by appearing on stage.
“The Fox executives made a soft appeal for Mr. Trump to participate in the debate, two of the people familiar with the dinner said, telling the former president that he excels on the center stage and that it presents an opportunity for him to show off his debate skills. Several people who have tried pushing Mr. Trump to debate in recent weeks have argued that if he does not show up, he could be giving an opening to other candidates to perform well,” The New York Times exclusively reported.
Trump told Wallace and Scott that he would keep an open mind.
But in an interview with Breitbart News Trump revealed his position had not changed as he argued it would be “stupid” for him to grant equal stature to rivals he led by 50 points in the polls so they could take potshots at him.
“I feel it’s sort of foolish to be doing it,” Trump told Breitbart. “I think it could be stupid—it could be a stupid thing to do. But I have not made up a decision. I don’t mind doing them. I like to do them—I enjoy them actually and I think they’re a good thing. But when you’re leading somebody by 50 or 60 points, I think doing it might be foolish.”
