Karine Jean-Pierre looked like a deer in headlights.
The White House press secretary found herself in a situation she desperately wanted to avoid.
And Karine Jean-Pierre made a fool out of herself after this embarrassing display.
During a campaign speech in Nevada, Joe Biden claimed to have spoken to Francois Mitterrand, the French president who served from 1981 to 1995 and who died in the late 20th century.
Joe Biden tells a story about recently meeting with Mitterrand from Germany. He then corrected it to France. The France part is right. But Mitterrand died in 1996 and left office in 1995. The man is not well. It just keeps getting worse: pic.twitter.com/rK1GOQaGAk

This wasn’t the first time Biden called out to a ghost.

Polls show the American people believe Joe Biden to be senile.
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden claiming to have spoken to a world leader who died almost 30 years ago in the context of a fresh NBC News poll showing just 23 percent of Americans think Biden is physically and mentally fit to be president.
“How is President Biden ever gonna convince the three-quarters of voters, who are worried about his physical and mental health, that he is okay, even though in Las Vegas he recently told a story about talking to a French president who died in 1996?” Doocy wondered.
Even Karine Jean-Pierre had enough self-awareness to know she couldn’t spin this one.
“I’m not even gonna go down that rabbit hole with you, sir,” Jean-Pierre responded.
“Why? What is the rabbit hole?” Doocy shot back noting that Biden saying he spoke to a deceased French president was on video. “He said he talked to Mitterrand, I mean.”
Once again, Jean-Pierre didn’t actually try to defend her boss.
“You saw the president in Vegas, in California. You’ve seen the president in South Carolina, you saw him in Michigan. I’ll just leave it there,” Jean-Pierre replied.
The NBC News poll also showed Donald Trump leading Joe Biden by five points.
It’s impossible to separate out the fact that more than 75 percent of voters don’t think Joe Biden is mentally fit to serve as president from his sub-40 percent approval rating and polling deficit against Donald Trump.
And no matter how badly Karine Jean-Pierre and the Democrats want this story to go away, the fact of the matter is Americans can’t unsee the video of Joe Biden telling stories about talking to dead men.
