Fani Willis picked up some help from an unexpected source in her witch hunt to jail Donald Trump.
Willis is facing a growing scandal and needs all the assistance she can get.
And one top Trump ally just flipped and aided Fani Willis.
Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman’s new book, “Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election,” contains a maybe not-so-shocking account of when RINO South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham testified before Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ grand jury in the Georgia 2020 election witch hunt.
Georgia’s anti-Trump Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger claimed Graham called him after the election and demanded he throw out votes.
Graham explained all he did was seek information on how Georgia’s signature verification process worked.
Isikoff and Klaidman wrote that when Graham testified he buried Trump telling the grand jurors that Trump was someone of low character who cheated at golf and who was so delusional he couldn’t tell fiction from reality.
“After fighting a four-month legal battle all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to block his grand jury subpoena — and losing — South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham turned on a dime ‘and threw Trump under the bus,’ according to a source familiar with his testimony. According to secret grand jury testimony in Fulton County confirmed by the authors, Graham testified that if you told Trump ‘That Martians came and stole the election, he’d probably believe you,’” POLITICO reported from book excerpts it obtained.
But the strange part came after Graham finished his testimony and he attempted to hug Willis for giving him the chance to unburden himself.
“He also suggested to the grand jurors that Trump cheated at golf. After Graham was finished testifying, he bumped into Fani Willis in a hallway and thanked her for the opportunity to tell his story. ‘That was so cathartic,’ he told Willis. ‘I feel so much better.’ Then, to the astonishment of one source who witnessed the scene, South Carolina’s senior senator hugged the Fulton County DA who was aggressively pursuing Trump. Willis’s reaction: ‘She was like “whatever, dude,”’ according to one witness of the strange encounter,” POLITICO’s report continued.
Graham likes to present himself as a staunch Trump ally.
But on this day, he was Fani Willis’ best friend.
Willis is now facing the serious possibility her entire case could go up in flames.
Judge Scott McAfee scheduled a February 15 hearing for oral arguments on Trump co-defendant Michael Roman’s motion to disqualify Willis and her entire office from the case over allegations Willis flouted conflict-of-interest guidelines.
Roman alleged that Willis hired Nathan Wade – who never tried a felony before – as special prosecutor in the Trump case because the two allegedly were having an affair.
The motion also charged that Willis expected to financially benefit from this arrangement – Willis allegedly paid Wade more than other prosecutors – when Wade used part of his compensation to pay for himself and Willis to take cruises and travel the country.
If Willis gets booted off the case another prosecutor has to want to pick it up.
And this case is so politically fraught and damaged from the allegations against Wade that there is a good chance the remaining prosecutors in Georgia will not want to attach their names and reputations to this dumpster fire.
