The next shoe just dropped in the Fani Willis scandal.
This one could get very ugly, very quickly.
And that’s because Marjorie Taylor Greene hit Fani Willis with this nasty curveball.
Congresswoman Greene filed a complaint with the Georgia Ethics Commission alleging Nathan Wade, the man Fani Willis hired as special prosecutor in the Georgia 2020 election criminal case against Donald Trump, violated the Georgia Campaign Finance Act by acting as a lobbyist and not reporting gifts in the form of plane tickets purchased for himself and Willis to go on vacation.
Willis is facing allegations of misuse of federal and state funds for hiring Wade after the two allegedly began an affair.
“Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis stands credibly accused of using Fulton County and federal COVID funds to pay her unqualified, secret boyfriend Nathan Wade–who has never tried a felony case–$250 per hour to collude with the Biden White House counsel and help Fani Willis bring unprecedented RICO felony charges against President Trump and 18 co-defendants,” the complaint stated.
Greene alleged that Willis paid Wade a higher per-hour rate than the other prosecutors on the case and that Wade allegedly used the money to pay for himself and Willis to travel on luxury cruise lines and vacation in Napa Valley.
“Willis allegedly paid her secret boyfriend a significantly higher hourly rate than another one of her special prosecutors who actually has significant experience,” the complaint added. “And with the nearly $700,000 Wade has collected in government funds as one of Willis’ special prosecutors, he has allegedly taken her on a luxury Caribbean cruise, a trip to Napa, and other lavish trips.”
Greene explained that the Georgia Campaign Finance Act exists to ensure full transparency on the interactions between public officials and lobbyists so taxpayers can feel confident the system is on the level.
“For that reason, the Act requires that lobbyists report their efforts to sway the discretion of lawmakers, administrators, and district attorneys in the discharge of their duties. Registration and disclosure requirements shine light on the infamously crooked aims of lobbyists and hold accountable corrupt public officials,” the complaint continued.
Greene argued that Wade began lobbying Willis on behalf of his law firm in 2021 and thus the plane tickets he allegedly bought for himself and Willis should count as gifts that Wade failed to disclose.
“On information and belief, Respondent Wade began lobbying Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on behalf of Wade & Campbell Law Firm in 2021,” the complaint concluded.
